About the artist
Dragan Dragich
Hi, my name is Dragan Dragich, I was born in former republic of Yugoslavia and came to the United States at the age of three with my family. In elementary school I entered a drawing contest for the school mascot and won. From then on I painted and worked on scetches on daily basis. That's how I discovered my talent and began to realize that I have a passion for Art.
Through traveling in Europe, I started to venture in painting ocean sceneries. I would get my ideas by exploring many beautiful beaches along the coast of the Adriatic Sea. During one of those trips I met an old guy, master in painting boats and the sea, who showed me his techniques of using variuos materials and textures. His art works inspired me to create my own canvases and murals.
I always experiment with different colors and textures in my art works to create an illusion of three-dimentional depth. I use acrylics as a base medium because of the large sizes of my canvases; and I also add other not always very traditional materials, such as: paste, plasters, glue, sand and saw dust. My ideas are expressed through my own combination of color, texture and balance.
I take great inspiration from places I travel and my hobbies, which I want to share with others.
